Who are the driving forces behind 1%CLUB? Beside 1%MEMBERS we have the 1%CREW, the 1%VOLUNTEERS, the 1%BOARD and the Advisory Committee of 1%CLUB.

A short introduction round to get to know this cool and energetic group of people!

Anna Chojnacka is one of the founders of 1%CLUB. She was the Dutch youth representative for the General Meeting of the United Nations in 2003, has been advisor/ researcher for the municipality of Amsterdam and campaign supervisor at Fair Trade Original. Anna studied International Relations, Economy and International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA). Anna is also a member of the Worldconnectors thinktank.

Co-founder Bart Lacroix worked for VSO in Tanzania as Business Advisor for over two years, managing several developement projects. Later, he worked for Africa Interactive and Butterfly Works. He is co-founder of WorkVoices, a social network for sharing knowledge and communicating easily within organisations. Bart studied International Marketing and  Organisational Studies.

Margreet van der Pijl is Manager 1%PROJECTS: together with the 1%PROJECT-assistants, she trains the1%COACHES who support 1%PROJECT-owners. Her experiences in British Guinea, Suriname and Ghana, where she worked for local initiatives, are really useful in her current job. Margreet studied Psychology, Pedagogy and International Development Studies at the University of Amsterdam (UvA).

Niels Jansen is commited to the 1%CLUB since day 2 and is Communication Manager. This means that he is responsible for every form of communication  by 1%CLUB, like this word. Or these. Niels studied Cultural Social Education in Eindhoven and began working right away in the commercial sector. Niels lived in Indonesia for a year, where he collaborated in several projects aiming to improve children's lives.

Nadia van Emmerik is Manager Events and Internationalization. Driven by her passion for travelling and other cultures, Nadia studied Social and Cultural Anthropology and has worked as project-coordinator, program developer and researcher for several projects in the Netherlands and abroad. At 1%CLUB is Nadia responsible for  events, like the Co-Creation Sessions and the 1%EVENT and the collaboration with Innovation and Incubation Labs worldwide.

Loek van Gent is Lead Developer at 1%CLUB. Together with a team of software developers is works on the website of 1%CLUB. The team is also develops, in collaboration with partners like NaiLab in Kenya, sites and applications for the 1%EVENT, the 1%SHOW and other promotional actions. Loek studied Biology at Leiden University . His wanderlust and interest in other cultures has brought him to many corners of the world already.

Nguyen Tran is, as Office Manager, responsible for the management of the 1%CLUB office. Both during her study - International Tourism Management Consultancy - andher professional career,  people, travelling and international settings have been very important to her. Since her early years, Nguyen developed a strong bond with Asia and, during an internship in South-Africa she developed a comparable bond with Africa.

Liane Mosselaar is Event Coordinator at 1%CLUB. She has a background in Communication management and Gender Studies (Gender & Ethnicity). In 2006, Lianne lived for a half year in Cape Town, where she followed an internship and afterwards she travelled through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. Her interest in other cultures grew exponentially during this time! Lianne is curious about all cultures and gets her energy out of working with people!

Marianne Gybels is  responsible for strategic partnerships and funds at 1%CLUB. She combines her interest for international cooperation with a passion for social entrepreneurship and, together with Marleen, is project manager for OutBox. Marianne studied Social Sciences and wlater worked for Oxfam Novib, an alliance partner of 1%CLUB.  Marianne is also a member of the board of JongOS.

Marleen Holtkamp is Business Development Manager at 1%CLUB. This means that she is responsible for the development of partnerships with commercial organisations. Marleen, together with Marianne, is also responsible for the social venture Outbox. She studied Human Resources Management and entered 1%CLUB as volunteer. This worked out so well for her that she decided to put all her energy to good use at 1%CLUB!

Suzanne van Straaten is Marketing Manager at 1%CLUB. In this role is she responsible for the growth in the number of members and donations. Suzanne studied Law and started her professional career as commercial trainee at TNT Post. There she co-initiated the cooking book 'Topkoks voor Thuiskoks' for the WFP and worked as projectmanager for WFP in Malawi. After several marketing management functions and many nice travels, she feels totally at home at 1%CLUB.

Ben Konrath is software developer at 1%CLUB and currently working on the new version of the 1%CLUB website. Ben has been working for several years as a software developer for both private-sector and non-profit organizations. He was attracted to the 1%CLUB because of his experience as a VSO volunteer in South-Western Uganda, Ben is interested in technology use, re-use and adaptation in low resource environments. He holds a Computer Science degree from the University of Toronto.
