Karel wrote to Community based-touristic Income Generating Activity for the benefit of Choma Village:

Hi everyone,

We had a lot of activities in Choma the last two weeks.
First, we had Alex from the Morogoro based NGO Sustainable Agriculture visiting Choma village. This NGO trains farmers in Organic Farming, Kilimo Hai in swahili. Alex came to Choma to present his organization and project to the farmers from Choma. Alex was impressed with the motivation of the Choma farmers. We may see further collaboration between Sustainable Agriculture and Choma's KAMIMCHO and farmers in the near future and an organic vegetable garden at the project campsite. Have a look at the pictures and the video.
Secondly we had 4 visitors in Choma for a weekend of camping. Claire, Fran, Hanna and Pushpa all work in development organizations in Tanzania and they were very keen to be the first 'test case' for the project. We had a regular camping tent for four persons and a temporary pit latrine set up and food was prepared in the kitchens of some of the village women. As activities, we organized a Ngoma, traditional dance and drums, visited a nearby waterfall for a swim and a short visit to the rainforest in the Ulugurus National Reserve. We were very anxious to get the 'assessment report' and the feedback from our visitors after the weekend. It turned out to be very positive and we got great tips from them. Watch out for the their testimonial and check out the photos and videos.
Thirdly, we had a work session of 2 days with the people from Choma to prepare the campsite. We laid out a floorplan, leveled the areas where tents, kitchen, 'kibandas' for dining will be built and prepared a path through the campsite. Many people from choma, we were around 30, were enthusiastic to leave there work on their 'shamba' (farm field) for a day or two, to come and help the project forward. Have a look at the photos of these 2 days and a video showing a walk through the prepared campsite.
The site is now ready to start planting flowers, trees and other vegetation and to start constructing.
So keep donating, in April we hope to set up the kitchen, kibandas and at least one tent ! Thanks for your support !
